A CPD session for teachers of drama and theatre practitioners, this is a 64-minute edit combining two live online sessions delivered by Splendid’s Artistic Director, Kerry Frampton in July 2020.

Kerry has nearly 20 years’ experience both devising political theatre with Splendid Productions, and leading practical workshops with students. This session is a brilliantly detailed insight into Kerry’s unique theatrical experience, and combines precise practitioner theory, practical exercises and a deep understanding of the challenges of creating devised work – for students and teachers alike.

Splendid believe that creating theatre is a political act, and empowering young performers to find their own voices and question their world has always been a fundamental part of our practice. In this session Kerry discusses:

• sources, stimuli and starting points for devising political work
• ties in practical practitioner-based exercises
• offers helpful advice on engaging students with politics, managing the devising process, promoting debate, and explores strategies for putting all of this on stage.
