How to Stream

Splendid streaming video comes either as a 30-day rental or a 1-year rental. Once rented, the video is linked to a Splendid Shop account, which users can log in to at any time during the rental period to watch the video. Unlike Netflix, we are happy for account details to be shared within institutions (within reason) so that a single rental can for example be watched by students at home – read more about sharing.

Each video is streamed on demand, so an internet connection is required, and videos are watchable on any browser-based device. For offline viewing we offer a physical copy of the DVD with every 1-year streaming option – you can choose whether or not you want this during checkout. If you are big DVD fan you can think of this as ‘free 1-year streaming with every DVD!’.

Streaming Video Coupons
Access to the video is managed by a digital coupon that is automatically generated by your purchase and sent to the email address of your choice. This makes it easy for finance officers to buy access on behalf of drama departments for example, or your mum to buy you a streaming coupon for your birthday (highly recommended).

Streaming Video Products
On both the streaming video page and production resources page you will see there are 3 choices of streaming video products, each of which include the bonus features listed:

• 30-day rental (£7.50) – add to your own or another user’s account to stream for 30 days.
• 1-year rental with optional DVD (£35) – add to your own or another user’s account to stream for 1 calendar year. During checkout you will have the option to include a physical DVD with the order. This will be posted to the delivery address specified during checkout. There are discounts if you buy multiple 1-yr streams/DVDs in a single order – the more you buy the more you save (!)
• Streaming Super Pack (£55) – the same as the 1-year rental but included alongside the optional DVD are physical copies of the script and education pack for the title. Physical products will be posted to the delivery address specified during checkout, and a link for the online-only version of the education pack is included in the order. The multiple title offer does not apply to Streaming Super Packs.

Rental Period
The rental period begins only when you apply the coupon and runs for the rental period from that date. By default the coupon is valid for 1 year so it is not essential that you apply the coupon as soon as you purchase it. Once you have applied the coupon the streaming video page shows a notification telling you how much of the rental period remains.
